If we were impressed by the preview press shots of the Suzuki Regina, seeing it on all its 3,550mm glory, we’re even more delighted.
It displays a great balance between retro cutesiness – flowing, teardrop lower body and off-white roof – and bang up-to-date aerodynamics – check out the beautifully detailed windscreen wipers, C-pillar dimples and rear diffuser.
The stylistic highlight is the interplay between roof and lower body. The upturned rear-view ‘ears’, overlayed on the blacked-out A-pillars, visually float the roof which appears only to connect to the lower body with the gentlest of kisses at the C-pillar. This ‘X’ graphic isn’t particularly original – think Lancia Delta and Fiat 500 Zagato concept – but the little Suzuki shows the Italians how to execute the motif.
It might be the first car we’ve seen, but it has potential be one of the best.
